About Us
Wilf Hutchinson served his apprenticeship at Robert Thompson's workshop, known today as Mouseman, alongside master carver Stan Dodds.
After a time at Mouseman Wilf left with hopes to grow his own business, which eventually came into fruition in 1957, where he coined 'Squirrelman' or Squirrel Woodcarvers and set out on his own journey.
After the regretful passing of Wilf in 2013 his son Trevor Hutchinson took the helm of the now family business and over the years became a good friend of Stan Dodds, watching and learning alongside him as he moved Squirrelman forward with his own designs and ideas.
Trevor Hutchinson now follows in his fathers footsteps and continues to fly the Squirrelman flag, carving and creating from his premises located in Husthwaite York, deep within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.
Working with the finest seasoned English oak Trevor now has a broad range of designs in his repertoire, varying from the smallest of trinkets to the most grand of furniture arrangements.
Alongside his listed items he also accepts bespoke requests.
